The use of textiles, and by extension the practice of pattern cutting fabric, isn’t extended much further than being an encasing for the body. My work explores how working in textiles and creating structure with the material can be pushed further, developing the ways that they can be an adornment to the body rather than being limited by conventional or domestic uses. An object that is an adornment is something to be valued and draws attention, and the use of this medium in my work allows for a full expression of vibrant and dynamic qualities.
At the moment my work is very editorial but through working with other creators I have begun to explore its more commercial opportunities, gearing towards an audience that wish to make a statement with a playful interest. The vibrancy of my work stems from my curiosity in material and the strong reflection of my drawings, both elements are fundamental to my practice and are showing in the explorative nature of my finished work.
